STATE ASSESSMENTS in RHODE ISLAND SCHOOLS
Rhode Island Comprehensive Assessment System (RICAS)
The RI Comprehensive Assessment System is a high-quality assessment that fulfills the federal requirements for annual assessments in the English Language Arts (ELA) and mathematics for students in grades 3-8. The RICAS gives teachers, students, and families information about student progress, school performance and how to improve teaching and learning. High school students will take the PSAT and SAT.
NGSS Science Assessment
The Next Generation Science Assessment is administered to all students in grades 5, 8 and 11 to assess proficiency in science.
ACCESS Assessment for Multilingual Learners
The ACCESS Assessments (Assessing Comprehension and Communication in English State-to-State) are administered in grades K-12 to all students identified as multilingual learners, in order to assess students’ social and academic proficiency in English across the four language domains of speaking, listening, reading, and writing.
SAT School Day & PSAT 10
The PSAT10 and SAT School Day are administered at the high school. They ensure that all students can use the SAT to consider higher education opportunities. Increasing participation in the PSAT10 and the SAT is the first step to having more students be college and career ready.
